George is a 6 yr old lover boy.  He came to us in December 2006.  He was very sick and heartworm positive.  He went to two different vets and he was diagnosed with an intestinal infection that had formed an abcess inside.  He was put on weeks of medication to treat the infection.  The intestinal infection however, made his heartworm condition worse.  During a check up it was discovered that he had a large amount of fluid in both lungs do to the heartworm disease.  The vet put him on a medication schedule to help bring the fluid and inflammation out of his lungs and allow his heart to heal.  This took several months.  He was finally well enough to start his heartworm treatment in April 2007, but had to have a very conservative treatment.  He is on the last two weeks of his recovery and will be gradually weaned off his medication.  However his extensive medical treatment has been costly.  He is a sweet loving boy who adores attention.  He does not like to be left alone at all.  He gives lots of kisses when his foster mommy comes home.  If you can donate to help with this boy’s medical costs he will greatly appreciate it and will send you lots of virtual kisses!

George has just flew through his last weeks of heartworm treatment.  He has another week or so to wean of his medication and a check up and he will be ready for adoption.  We can really tell he is feeling better as he has started to play and chase his foster siblings.  He gets along with most other dogs and really needs a home where someone can spoil him rotten (more than he already is).  If you are interested in meeting George please ask for him on the application.
