Benson (aka Lil’ Bit)

My name is Benson, but my foster mom calls me Lil’ Bit because when she picked me up I was 12 lbs and all skin and bone.  It only took me a couple of weeks to start putting on weight and now I am working on building muscles.  I am back to my prime weight of 18 lbs and I am looking good - or so my fosters tell me!  You see, I am what is called, visually challenged.  To put it bluntly, I am blind in my right eye and going blind in my left, but it doesn’t slow me down much as I use my buddy Bailey to help me get around.  My foster mom is working with me on learning to rely on my hearing more, and we play Hide and Seek.  She hides and I find her.  I know it is a game because she calls me till I find her!  I am about 10 years old, with a fine white coat that is naturally curly.  Everyone thinks I am adorable.  I like to be brushed, and am happiest when its my turn to sit in my foster mom’s lap and get lovin’.  I use a doggy door and love chewing on rawhides.  I am on the same special diet as my buddy Bailey as we both have the same kidney issue.  I am a talIker, actually a grumbler.  I will let you know when I am not happy about something.  I am learning how to walk on short leash, my foster mom learned if I am on a long leash, I have a tendency to wander in the wrong direction and trip her up.  My favorite place to sleep is on the big bed next to you.  Bailey and I are inseperable, and take turns chewing on the same bone (we like to share even though there are lots of them around the house), we sleep touching each other, and pretty much go everywhere together.  That’s Taylor Ryan (aka Bailey) in the picture with me, the tall, handsome guy.  We both need a forever home and would be really happy to be adopted together (I am pretty dependent on him as my seeing eye dog even though he is getting cataracts).  Our foster mom refers to us as the blind leading the blind!  Oh, by the way, I don’t do too well with children, they have a tendency to sneak up on me and startle me.  An all adult home would be best.  If you can find it in your heart to care for these senior boys, they will love you and be very grateful.
