Crossed Over: September 25, 2009
Derek was a charmer – from the moment MSRH rescued him. He tried so hard to be happy and hide how sick he was but MSRH could tell something was wrong. Unfortunately, the prognosis wasn’t good. Derek was infected with Ehrlichia – a severe blood disease spread by ticks. For months, Dr. D and the loving staff at Parker Road Animal Hospital tried in vain to save his life. For a while, we thought he’d soon be better. But it wasn’t to be. We’ll miss you, Derek! Love Always, Your Friends at MSRH.
Before he crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, Derek left this message: “MSRH never once balked at the cost of my care. And all told, it exceeded $3,000! Counting some of the other sick dogs that MSRH has cared for, they’re more than $12,000 in the hole! I’d sure appreciate it if folks could make a donation on my behalf. Please see the MSRH Donate! section of the website.”
