“And sometimes when we touch, the honesty’s too much.  And I have to close my eyes and hide.  I wanna hold you til I die, til we both break down and cry.  I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides.”  I’m Chester and I’m a salt & pepper, male Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail.  I’m about four years old and I weigh about sixteen pounds.  My foster mom says I’m adorable.  Yep!  She says I’m house trained.  Yep!  And I’m good with other dogs too….I threw that one in there myself!  I love to be outside (when it’s not 112 degrees please) and enjoy my walks and romps in the yard!  “At times I understand you, and I know how hard you’ve tried.  I’ve watched while love commands you;  And I’ve watched love pass you by.”  Don’t let love pass you by - I’ve got lots of love to share!  Just ask for me, Chester, on your MSRH adoption application!  Adoption Fee:  $350

“My eyes adored ya;  Though I never laid a hand on you, my eyes adored ya.  Like a million miles away from me you couldn’t see how I adored ya.  So close, so close and yet so far!”  I’m Chotzy, and I’m in love with my new forever home.  Even though I don’t have one yet.  That’s where you come in!  I’m a black & white, male Miniature Schnauzer with cropped ears and a docked tail.  I’m about five years old and I weigh about nineteen pounds.  My foster mom says I’m super sweet, playful, affectionate and stately handsome!  I play very well with other dogs but I think I would really prefer to be your only four-legged friend!  I’m house trained and doggy door trained too.  And, thanks to the necessities associated with heartworm treatment, I’m crate trained too!  My eyes are adoring you - don’t be a million miles away!  Ask for me, Chotzy, on your MSRH adoption application!  Adoption Fee:  $350

Bart Andrew

“Whoa Woman, oh woman, don’t treat me so mean;  You’re the meanest old woman that I’ve ever seen.  I guess if you say so, I have to pack ma things and go.  That’s right.  Hit the road (Bart) and don’t you come back no more, no more, no more, no more.  Well baby, listen baby, don’t ya treat me this-a way;  Cause I’ll be back on my feet some day.”  My name is Bart Andrew and I’m a male, salt & pepper Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail.  I’m about seven years old and I weigh about twenty-five pounds (cookie dog bone biscuits….yum!).  My owner called MSRH and asked them to take me but when MSRH asked for a small donation, he took me to the pound instead!  Nice family…..they should hit the road, Jack!  Well, that’s behind me now and I am with a very loving foster family.  I’m settling in real nice.  Mom says I’m just the sweetest dog!  I wasn’t used to some of the normal household noises at first (I must have been kept outside) but being inside suits me very well thank you!  When I go outside, I always look back to see if Mom is still there to let me back in!  I seem to really like men and I really miss dad when he goest o work!  I’m a little nervous when fireworks go off or when thunderstorms are in the area.  Actually, I just like mom to cuddle me!  I am house trained and I have good manners…..I never jump on furniture.  My mom doesn’t crate me but the shelter said I did fine in a crate.  I play very well with other dogs but I might enjoy being your only friend….just so I can get all the attention!  I’m very laid back….unless I see the cat.  That gets me a little excited!  I’m learning some basic commands and tricks.  I love to chase the balls you throw…..but I like even more watching you go pick them up and bring them back!  I prefer to be in a home without children.  Young children make me a little uneasy.  I’m looking for a special home where they’ll never say, “Hit The Road, Bart!”.   I know you’re that home!  Ask for me, Bart Andrew, on your MSRH adoption application!  Adoption Fee:  $250

Lois

“Twenty-five years of my life and still I’m trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination.  And so I cry sometimes when I’m lying in bed;  And I’m feeling a little peculiar.  So I wake in the morning, I step outside and I take a deep breath;  And I scream from the top of my lungs, ‘What’s Goin’ On’”?  I’m Lois and though I’m a non-blonde too, I’m not part of that singing group 4-Non-Blondes!  What’s going on you ask?  Well, I’m a female, salt & pepper Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail.  I’m about six years old and I weigh about twelve pounds.  My foster mom says I’m super sweet and I like any time I can get just cuddled up with my owner!  I’m crate trained and house trained too.  I also know how to use a doggy door.  I don’t do very well riding in the car just yet….I’m calm but I get sick sometimes.  I’m good with other dogs and I like to play outside….when it’s not too hot!  “And I try, oh my God do I try;  I try all the time in this institution.  And I pray, oh my God do I pray;  I pray every single day for a revolution!”  The revolution….to save innocent, abandoned Schnauzers….begins with you!  Give me a chance in your loving home!  Ask for me, Lois, on your MSRH adoption application!  Adoption Fee:  $350

Noah

“The LORD then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.”  I am quite the catch, but righteous?  I’m working on it!  Your forever home is my ark - my place of safety, warmth and love - and all you need to is ask for me to join you!  I’m Noah and I’m a white, male Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail.  I weigh about fourteen pounds.  Did you know that Noah in the Bible lived to be 950 years old?  I wonder if he had any teeth!  I’m only six years old and I don’t have any teeth either!  I’m really hoping for a home that loves me enough to take care of me!  I’m a lot of fun and I like playing outside and I’m good with other dogs.  I’m crate trained and I’m house trained too with a doggy door.  I’m super sweet and I love to cuddle with my human friends.  God said, “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”  I’d like to see your adoption application - a sign of the covenant between me and you!  Ask for me, Noah!  Adoption Fee:  $350

Mitzi

“Still don’t know what I was waitin’ for;  And my time was runnin’ wild.  A million dead end streets;  And every time I thought I’d got it made, it seemed the taste was not so sweet.  So I turned myself to face me.  Ch-ch-ch-Changes!  Turn and face the strange!”  I’m Mitzi and I’m a salt & pepper Schnauzer mix (probably a little Daschund in me!) with a wiry coat, natural ears and a natural tail.  I’m about one-year old and I weigh just eight pounds.  My foster mom says I’m just the sweetest thing - I just want some love!  I’m crate trained and I’m house trained too as long as I’m kept on a routine (I am still a puppy).  I love other dogs and I get along with them very well.  I am also very sweet around children.  I have the slightly shy personality that’s just perfect for being gentle.  I really do like kids!  Mom says I could be the perfect addition to a family with or without another four-legged friend.  So if you’re ready to face some Changes - the good ones - then ask for me, Mitzi, on your MSRH adoption application!  Adoption Fee:  $300

Quinton

“I keep forgettin’ we’re not in love anymore.  I keep forgettin’ things will never be the same again.  I keep forgettin’ how you made that so clear.  I keep forgettin’ baby.”  I’m Quinton and I just can’t stop thinking about the safety and security of a forever home.  I need someone to fall in love with again….someone who’s home I can stand guard over.  That someone is you!  I’m a male, salt & pepper Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail.  I’m about seven years young and I weigh fourteen pounds.  I’m a laid back guy - perfect for someone who enjoys being at home and cuddlin’ up to their favorite man (uh-hmm….me I mean!).  We can sit around watching TV but I have to say I have a thing with cataracts going on.  But I can see your love for me just fine!  I’m crate trained and house trained with a doggy door.  I enjoy being with other dogs and playing in the yard but I think I’d really enjoy being your only four-legged friend.  I want to put my whole focus on you - the one I’m going to love!  Don’t you be forgettin’!  Ask for me, Quinton, on your MSRH adoption application!  Adoption Fee:  $250

Zilker

“With a little love, and some tenderness;  We’ll walk upon the water;  We’ll rise above the mess.  With a little peace, and some harmony;  We’ll take the world together;  We’ll take ‘em by the hand.  ‘Cause I’ve got a hand for you.  ‘Cause I wanna run with you!”   I’m Zilker, and I’m a male, salt & pepper Schnauzer with long, cropped ears and a docked tail.  I weigh about fifteen pounds and my foster mom says I need to add a few pounds….that must mean more treats!  Though I’m told I’m approximately twelve years young, I act much much younger!  I love to run and play (and I like to pose for pictures too)!  I also like nice, long walks.  Does that sound like a twelve year-old?!  I love laying by my owner on the couch while you watch TV.  My foster mom thinks it’s funny when there’s a dog on TV, I run to the TV and start barking at the TV dog!  I’m house trained but I don’t like the crate and I’ll bark if you put me in there.  I like sleeping in the big bed at night so I can cuddle with you.  I get along well with other dogs but I’d also be fine as your only four-legged friend.  “I want to love you the best that I can;  Hold my hand. I wanna hold your hand!”  Ask for me, Zilker, on your MSRH adoption application!  Adoption Fee:  $150

Avery

“Man, it’s a hot one;  Like seven inches from the midday sun.  I hear you whisper and the words melt everyone, but you stay so cool!  And if you said, ‘This life ain’t good enough,’ I would give my world to lift you up;  I could change my life to better suit your mood….because your so smooth!”  I’m Avery….a little bit jazz…a little bit rock n roll….but mostly a male, white Schnauzer with natural ears and a natural tail.  When you’re this cool….you gotta go natural!  I’m about two years old and I weigh twenty-two pounds.  I’m a handsome guy and as soon as my hair grows out a bit more, there’s a lot more handsome to come!  I’m also super sweet according to my foster mom!  I’m crate trained but I need a few lessons in the house training department.  They don’t teach you this stuff when you’re on the road…going town to town….singin’ your songs.  You know.  I love other dogs and get along with them very well.  I can go to a home where I’m your one forever pal or to a home where you’re sharin’ the love.  Sharin’ the love….we do that on the road too.  “You got the kinda loving that can be so smooth; Give me your heart, make it real, or else forget about it (and let’s don’t forget about it)!”  I’d give my world for you - all you have to do is ask!  Ask for me, Santana….oops….I mean Avery, on your MSRH adoption application!  Adoption Fee:  $450

Dixie

“Love never dies a natural death.  It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source.  It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals.  It dies of illness and wounds.  It dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishing.”  Anais Nin.  I don’t know….maybe that’s what my first owners were thinking when they cast me out.  OK, I admit it.  I have a tarnishing.  But is it my fault that something in the breeding process resulted in me losing most of my eyesight?  No, I didn’t think so.  I’m Dixie and I’m a female, silver Schnauzer mix with natural ears and a natural tail.  I’m about one year old and I weigh fifteen pounds.  Now I was honest in my personal assessment but you likely wouldn’t know it if you saw me in my comfortable surroundings.  I get around really well.  In new surroundings, I still get around pretty well though sometimes I might go ‘bump’ till I figure out where everything is!  Another four-legged friend in the house might help me out a bit.  Yea, that’s a good idea.  My foster mom says I’m super sweet and that, when she picks me up to put her on her lap, I just can’t stop giving her loving kisses!  It’s nice to be loved!  I get along well with other dogs but, given my condition, I don’t care for a lot of excitement.  So I think it’s best if I’m in an all-adult home and no more than one or two four-legged friends.  I’m very low key and I never cause trouble.  I’m crate trained and house trained with a doggy door.  Overall, I’m very lovable.  You love me and I’m going to love you back ten-fold!  Keep on pettin’!  Yea, that’s it!  Helen Keller once said, “One cannot consent to creep when one has an impulse to soar.”  I have that impulse.  I’m young and I learn fast.  Nothing can stop me.  I know I need to do more than the average dog - and I can!  And you can be my guiding light.  Ask for me, Dixie, on your MSRH adoption application!  Adoption Fee:  $350
