RUDY

Crossed Over:  December 7, 2009

Looking out my window,
I’m thinking of you,
And all the things,
We can do…

Rudy was my very first foster.  Though there have been many since, he will always be special.  Rudy was lovingly adopted by Gail and Don McCreless on April 30, 2006.  He was very loved by both. When I would go to visit, they would tell Rudy that I was coming and he would wait for me at the window. Just six months before Rudy’s death, on June 3, 2009, Gail succumbed to cancer.  They are together again.   With Love, Marilyn Malaney

VAUGHN

Crossed Over:  December 9, 2009

“Well I’m lookin’ out the window, I’m lookin’ at you;  Well I’m dreamin’ all the sweet dreams and the memories of the past.  Feel so fine honey, that’s why our love will last.  Feel so good baby and it’s all because of you.  Yea, I’m lookin’ out the window, I’m lookin’ at you.”  Stevie Ray Vaughn

Vaughn was a foster in the loving home of Callie & Kevin Wolf.  Rescued by MSRH, and named after the great blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughn, his situation was difficult and he crossed the Rainbow Bridge on December 9, 2009.  He was a blessing, but for too short a time, and he will be missed.  We know though that you’re looking out Heaven’s window and smiling on us below.  With Love, Callie & Kevin

Annie

Annie Sonier

Born:  June 5, 1997

Crossed Over:  November 6, 2009

My precious Annie went to Heaven on November 6, 2009.  Her nickname was Annie Bananie, given to her by her “kindergarten teacher” when she was eight weeks old.  Annie had many health problems during the years, but remained one of the sweetest, most loving members of our family – no matter what she went through.  She was a breast cancer survivor, was blind in one eye, had surgery for bladder stones, and was an insulin dependent diabetic during her last three years.  She was well loved, not only by our family, but by everyone who knew her.  She will be greatly missed by her playmates, including her “best friend” Callie, the Yorkshire Terrier, and my son’s cat, Tigger.  Her human friends mourning her passing include Michael (my son), Carol, Jennie, Kate, Jan, Janet, Theresa (who groomed her with care all of her life), and the staff of Lexington Animal Hospital who treated her with love and kindness all of her life.

May God Bless my precious little girl.  We’re comforted knowing that, right now, she is running and playing with Shadow, who preceded her to Heaven.

With Love, Pat Sonier & Family

Sammy B

Crossed Over:  October 26, 2009

Sammy B came to MSRH in need of help and we did everything we could to save him.  In the end, the cancer would prove to be the victor.  Sammy B was a sweetheart and his foster mom, Krista Garcia, was his Schnauzer Angel and was with him till the end.  Sammy B touched everyone at MSRH that he met and we’ll all miss him.  But we know that, as he crosses the Rainbow Bridge, he’s happy, healthy and whole once again.

Benson (aka Lil’ Bit)

Crossed Over:  August 31, 2009

My oldest rescue boy (estimated at 14 years), Benson, known affectionately around here as Lil’ Bit, departed for heaven on August 31, 2009.

Benson was a small dog, with a huge presence.  He joined the pack at Serenity Ranch for Retired Miniature Schnauzers at two yaers ago.  Lil’ Bit was blind in one eye and nearly blind in the other.   But his ears sure worked well and he learned to get around by listening for us.  Within a few days, he had reorganized the pecking order in the pack to put himself as the leader and put Miss Cagney’s nose out of joint.  Even on the morning of his passing, she was testing him to see if he would back down.  She is going to miss having him to pick on!  Miss Lacey loved to clean Benson as he was th eonly one who would sit still for as long s she wanted to fawn on him. He got a great bath on the morning of his passing as Lacey did not want him to show up in Heaven dirty!  With the hormone imbalance Benson’s departing has put in the pack, Bailey is going to be outnumbered once again!  Bailey will miss Benson the most at night when he doesn’t have a buddy to snuggle up against.  Who knew that Lil’ Bit would sneak his way so quickly into our hearts!  His grouchy little old dog habits and endearing way of using his blindness to snuggle his head into any human female chest will be fondly remembered.  We will be waiting for the next old friend to come to us….Cagney and Lacey make great seeing eye dogs!  With Love, Lori Magyar

Butch

Butch

Crossed Over:  October 16, 2009

Butch came to MSRH and me via a wonderful schnauzer angel who unchained him from a tree where he had no water, no food and no shelter.  He could not stand and was nothing but skin and bones.  He held his head at 180 degree angle (vertigo).  He would try to walk and fall down.  He was one of the “kitchen” crew (we referred to it as Kimmie’s kitchen)!!  He knew when I would go to the treat jar and would come trotting over.  Even though he ate regularly, he did not gain weight.   We feel priviledged to have known him and given him a chance for a new life — living in the house, with clean & soft bedding, and regular meals.  Butch knew that we loved him and he will be surely missed.  Butch, you are now whole and can run and play — now that you have traveled over the Rainbow Bridge.   Schnauzerly yours,  Karen Coleman

Derek

Crossed Over:  September 25, 2009

Derek was a charmer – from the moment MSRH rescued him.  He tried so hard to be happy and hide how sick he was but MSRH could tell something was wrong.  Unfortunately, the prognosis wasn’t good.  Derek was infected with Ehrlichia – a severe blood disease spread by ticks.  For months, Dr. D and the loving staff at Parker Road Animal Hospital tried in vain to save his life.  For a while, we thought he’d soon be better.  But it wasn’t to be.  We’ll miss you, Derek!  Love Always, Your Friends at MSRH.

Before he crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, Derek left this message:  “MSRH never once balked at the cost of my care.  And all told, it exceeded $3,000!   Counting some of the other sick dogs that MSRH has cared for, they’re more than $12,000 in the hole!  I’d sure appreciate it if folks could make a donation on my behalf.  Please see the MSRH Donate! section of the website.”

Candy

Candy “The Cane” Bacon

Adopted:  April 21, 2007

Crossed Over:  August 14. 2009

My beloved Candy Cane,  known as “The Cane”, passed over suddenly August 14, 2009.  I adopted her from MSRH in April of 2007.  She had had one owner who had passed away and then was dumped in a shelter cause of her senior age of 10.  She may have been 10, but was unaware of her age as she played like a puppy until her last day.  She could walk 5 miles a day and still be ready for more. She climbed tress, went after ducks in a pond and all who knew her remarked that she was ageless!

Fondly called the “The Queen” by some, she had personality plus!  An alpha female through and though…she knew what she liked and wanted and got it! Though I only had her for 2 years and 4 months it seemed like she had always been a part of my life. We had a bond like no other four legged furry one before her.  I still “see” her in all her favorite places and can not watch a duck on the water nor squirrel run up a tree without feeling the tremendous loss of her presence in my life. She was as no other and will be sorely missed.

Play well my sweet girl with Patia at The Bridge until we meet again.

Love Always, Karin Bacon

Odie

ODIE

Born:  December 8, 1995

Crossed Over:  September 11, 2009

Our sweet boy, Odie, passed away peacefully at 4:55 pm. on Friday, September 11th, in the loving arms of his parents, Jo and Kris.  Along with his parents, he also leaves behind his two canine housemates, Raven and Max.

Odie was born on December 8, 1995.  He was initially rescued by the SPCA, who in turn, turned him over to Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston.  He was then adopted by Jo and Kris on January 31, 2005 from that organization.  Jo found his posting on the internet, spoke with his foster mom, and then traveled with Kris to Houston to meet him and bring him to his “forever home” in Mansfield.   At that time, he was suffering from a severe skin infection, which was immediately treated and he soon blossomed into a handsome guy.  It was discovered several months later that he was losing his eyesight, caused by Progressive Retinal Atrophy, a common disease in Miniature Schnauzers.  At the time of his death, he was completely blind.

Odie was best known for running in his sleep.  While lying down and asleep, he would kick his legs frantically in the movement of a dog running as fast as he could!   What could he be chasing?!!

He will be missed, and loved, forever.  With Love, Jo and Kris

Megan

Megan Guzman

Born:  January 5, 1999

Crossed Over:  August 27, 2009

Megan will be dearly missed.  She was the reason why I started helping MSRH.  She was my first indoor baby and was a lot of fun.  We, or at least I, thought “We” wanted to help other schnauzers, but I soon discovered that Megan was a Diva and would have preferred to remain an only child.  However, because of her I did rescue 3 others – Max, Coco, and Baby.

Megan loved to get on the furniture when no one was looking.  She loved being the center of attention.  She loved food and was quick if she got a hold of some people food.  Megan was disobedient and we all allowed it.  She had an opinion about everything.  She was my baby and Diva.  I hope she and Max are having fun together at the Rainbow Bridge.  With love, Chris Guzman.
