BUSTER SHAFER
Adopted 24 December 2009; Crossed Over 24 July 2009
We have lost a precious child of ours. Buster came to us full of life and was loved by everyone and everyone loved him. Our nine nieces and nephews, our three adult sons and all the Rice Military neighborhood will miss him dearly. Buster died in his sleep and was such a loving and caring dog that he did not even make a noise. Thank you MSRH for helping us rescue Buster. Sincerely, Sandra and Randall Shafer

Born: 30 May 1997 in Round Rock Texas
Crossed Over: 2 June 2009 in Houston, TX

He will be dearly missed. Who will play catch with me? Who will guard me and try to protect me from all things? Who will jump on the bed and see what goodies I left on the night stand? Who will swallow my ear-rings and then force me to examine his poop for several days afterwards?
Already this morning, I expected to see him wake up and examine the house before lying down to watch me work. He was loved and will be missed.

Just before Christmas, “Crissy Belle” was found ready to deliver her litter. Five precious babies were born just one week before the holiday. Though lovingly cared for by Sherry and Darryl Eitel, distemper took its toll on the little ones, one by one. We wish them safe travels across the Rainbow Bridge.

“LITTLE ROCK ROCKY”
May 25, 1988 – May 20, 2004
Our beautiful boy was so intelligent. We became partners – when you were only 1 day old, I picked you up and you squirmed until you snuggled beneath my chin. When you were hungry, the other 6 in your litter didn’t stand a chance– you crawled over their backs to get to your Mommy. I took you home when you were 5 weeks old, and oh, how you cried that night. But for the next 16 years, we were inseparable travelers. From Little Rock, Arkansas, to Baltimore, Maryland, to Houston, back to the Northeast, Louisiana and Oklahoma, and all the while, we were happy just to be together. You had many nicknames, among them: Rock-a-boo, Rock-a-Doodle, and Rock-a-feller…that one given because you brought such wealth to our lives.
We knew you were in pain the last few months and we were there, keeping watch while you crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We grieved uncontrollably and still tell you good night every evening. I think it was Will Rogers who said….”If there are no dogs in heaven, I don’t want to go there”. We will always love and miss you.
