Who We Are
Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston, Inc. (MSRH), is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization sponsored entirely by donations.  We are dedicated to the never-ending, sometimes overwhelming, task of saving the lives of abused, abandoned, and/or unwanted Miniature Schnauzers who have lost their homes through no fault of their own.  We do not operate a shelter.  Our dogs reside in loving foster homes, until they find their perfect forever home.  Many of our dogs come to us healthy.  Others are sick or injured.  They may come to us from shelters, from the streets, from puppy mills or from owners who cannot, or will not, care for them any longer.  In almost all cases, at least in their recent past, they have not felt the security of a loving home.  Our goal is to ensure these fine dogs get healthy, never again face life in a dangerous situation, and instead live in a safe, loving, and secure home for the rest of their lives. Since February 2000, we have orchestrated over 3,000 adoptions.

Miko

Hello! My name is Miko. I am a 10-year-old, salt and pepper colored male Miniature Schnauzer. I have natural ears and a docked tail. I weigh 16 pounds. Being a senior, means I've gone through some stuff in my life, like bad teeth. Most of mine have been pulled, but that does not stop me from eating one bit. I just need my food softened or canned food. I am a bit hard of hearing, but if you pat your leg I will come running.  Since I'm a bit older I take 3 medications daily for a heart murmur. They cost ~$15 a month. I am house and crated trained. I still get out and chase the squirrels, when they arent' looking. I am the perfect match for someone looking for a handsome older fellow. Adoption Fee: A donation to MSRH

If you are interested please fill out the adoption application asking for me. An adoption coordinator will arrange for us to meet.

Ronny's Legacy Fund for Seniors
This fund has been created in memory of Ronny.  When Ronny was 13, his owner died with no provisions for Ronny’s care.  He was turned into a shelter and was found to have metastatic lung cancer.  MSRH was called, and rather than let Ronny die alone in the impersonal environs of the shelter, we took him in and raised funds for hospice care.  He was placed in a foster home and given meds to make him as comfortable as possible.

Ronny died in the loving arms of his foster mom, who made sure he knew he was loved and that his life had mattered.  We at MSRH have a special place in our hearts for seniors like Ronny.  We have established a perpetual fund for the care of senior Schnauzers in Ronny’s memory.  If you, too, have a special place in your heart for these precious seniors, please click on this link to donate. Once on the page, select the Payment Purpose, then Veterinary Donation. Type of Tribute should be In Memory.  Make a note in the Payment Instructions text box stating it's for Ronny.
