Who We Are
Save A Schnauzer

Featured Pet

Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston, Inc. (MSRH), is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization sponsored entirely by donations.  We are dedicated to the never-ending, sometimes overwhelming, task of saving the lives of abused, abandoned, and/or unwanted Miniature Schnauzers who have lost their homes through no fault of their own.

We do not operate a shelter.  Most of our dogs reside in loving foster homes, until they find their perfect forever home.  Others spend time in a veterinary clinic for treatment, if needed, and a few may be kept in boarding where they can get training due to social issues.   Many of our dogs come to us healthy.  Others are sick or injured.  They may come to us from shelters, from the streets, from puppy mills or from owners who cannot, or will not, care for them any longer.  In almost all cases, at least in their recent past, they have not felt the security of a loving home.

Our goal is to ensure these fine dogs get healthy, never again face life in a dangerous situation, and instead live in a safe, loving, and secure home for the rest of their lives. Since February 2000, we have orchestrated over 3,000 adoptions.

Cody has been with MSRH since August, 2023.  Can you believe that someone has not grabbed up this adorable little guy?  Cody is two years old and only weighs in at 10 pounds.  As you can see, he is salt and pepper in color and has natural ears and a natural tail too.  How could anyone say "no" to this little guy?

Cody is currently living with 2 other dogs and he is doing well.   He was jealous at first but has learned to share his mama.  He knows all the normal dog commands - sit, walk, lay down, off, stop, and kennel.

Cody walks well on a leash but doesn’t need to be walked to burn off energy.  His favorite activity is sleeping on your lap.  He greets everyone that he meets on walks - men and women.  He does need a little bit of time and trust in his handler to be completely unfearful of unfamiliar males.  As he has nipped at everyone in his foster family, we would not recommend a home with small children.

Cody doesn't mind staying in a kennel at night or when he is left alone. He loves loves, loves car rides.

If you are interested in any of our Schnauzers that are ready for adoption, please complete an Adoption Application, and an Adoption Counselor will be in touch with you.

ADOPTION COUNSELORS NEEDED

Would you enjoy working with our rescues and potential adopters? This volunteer will be speaking with potential adopters and learning what type of Schnauzer they are looking to adopt.  This person will also be making phone calls to veterinarians for references and if needed, schedule a Home Visit to a potential adopter that has not previously had dogs. You can also help determine what type of dog will fit their lifestyle best and set up a meeting with the dog and the potential adopter.  If you have the time and like meeting new people, we would love to have you join us.

If you are interested, please email Sandra@msrh.org or call (281) 336-1163 and leave a message.
