Who We Are

Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston, Inc. (MSRH), is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization sponsored entirely by donations.  We are dedicated to the never-ending, sometimes overwhelming, task of saving the lives of abused, abandoned, and/or unwanted Miniature Schnauzers who have lost their homes through no fault of their own.

We do not operate a shelter.  Our dogs reside in loving foster homes, until they find their perfect forever home.  Many of our dogs come to us healthy.  Others are sick or injured.  They may come to us from shelters, from the streets, from puppy mills or from owners who cannot, or will not, care for them any longer.  In almost all cases, at least in their recent past, they have not felt the security of a loving home.  Our goal is to ensure these fine dogs get healthy, never again face life in a dangerous situation, and instead live in a safe, loving, and secure home for the rest of their lives. Since February 2000, we have orchestrated over 3,000 adoptions.

PATCHES

This handsome guy is Patches.  He is about 10 years old and weighs 13 pounds.  Patches is a black  Miniature Schnauzer who has natural ears and a docked tail.  Patches needs a human who can deal with a senior guy who has a few problems.  He is hard of hearing and has some cataracts.  He is on Gabapentin twice a day for Spondylosis.  Patches is kennel and house trained.  However, when he goes to the door he needs to go and his human better be fast.  He is not a lap sitter, but he loves to sit on the floor and have you give him a good scratching before bedtime.  His Foster Parents think he would love cuddling if it was offered more.  He is simply a very sweet guy and has a cute little personality.  Loves his food and blueberries are his favorite.

If you are interested, please fill out an Adoption Application asking for Patches and an Adoption Counselor can arrange a meeting.

NOTE:  Effective January 1, 2020, MSRH is required to charge 8.25% sales tax on all adoption fees and merchandise sales.

A Rescue with a Heart

Each month MSRH takes in ~25 dogs in need of forever homes. They come to us as owner surrenders, strays or directly from the various animal shelters. Each rescue is then evaluated and fully vetted. Many are in need of medical support. MSRH treats ~10 dogs each month for heartworms. Treatment is costly, but life saving. We have no shelter. We rely on loving foster homes to provide a nurturing environment until each rescue finds their new family. When we cannot find a foster home, our rescues are boarded. Boarding is costly, so we are always in need of foster families. If you are willing to open your home to one of our rescues, please fill out our foster application.

MSRH maintains ~45+ in rescue each month. These are dogs in foster homes, undergoing treatment in veterinary clinics and boarded at our partner kennels.

Please consider donating to help MSRH defray medical and monthly operating costs.  Click on this link to donate.  Under Payment Purpose, select Veterinary, Boarding or Unrestricted Donation. Thank you in advance for supporting MSRH. All monies donated benefit rescues in need. With your help we are finding forever homes for more rescues.
